17TH FEBRUARY 2017: I’ve got myself into a sticky patch here; I seem to have lost some writing energy. I should have reached 14,000 words by now, and I’ve only just managed it. Suddenly everything seemed dreary, I was dreary, my characters were dreary, and I couldn’t put one word in front of the other. I went back and fixed up a few holes, but it’s heavy going right now. I think I’m half way through chapter five… it’s one of those consolidating chapters in which the characters have moved into a new set up and should be looking forward to what’s going to happen to them, particularly Mrs Brandling, the housekeeper, whose work burden has decreased significantly. But they’re in for a shock as the child Cephalina is returning.
