Farah Ahamed is a lawyer. She started writing short stories encouraged and guided by the short story writer, Rebecca Lloyd.

Earlier this year, under the mentorship of Louise Doughty, she completed a Diploma in Creative Writing with the UEA-Guardian masterclass. She is currently a mentee on the Newham BAME Writers’ Mentoring Programme with Courttia Newland and also part of a writer’s group facilitated by Claire Collison at the Mary Ward Centre.

Her short stories have been published by Kwani?, Bridge  House, Fey Publishing, and New Lit Salon Press. Her short story Zoloft for Everyone received a commendation at the 2014 Winchester Writer’s Festival and another,  1972, was nominated by Kwani? for the 2014 Caine Prize for African writing.
