11th and 12th April 2017:- I opened the manuscript yesterday, and started to write one of the most important scenes and certainly the second most difficult, and within one half hour, I couldn’t go on with it. Usually, I would persist though some inner rebellion of this kind. This time I didn’t, I really felt as if I’d come to the end of my reserves, and so I’ve ducked out and taken a few days off. I still think I will have finished the first draft by the May 4th, because now, I suspect it’s going to be just a bit shorter than the 80 thousand words I had aimed for.
