5. WRITING THE CHILD CEPHALINA… almost couldn’t write today.

February 13th 2017:-  Today though, I had the most terrible start and was close to deciding not to write. I had a vague headache, wondered if I was ill; probably would’ve liked to have persuaded myself it was true. I just could not get a decent flow going although I knew what the chapter was about, according to my chapter map, which is already out of alignment, as I had supposed the material would all fit into the first two chapters and I have already arrived at chapter four – having roughly six to eight pages of double spaced text in each chapter.  I fiddled about for at least an hour trying to see if a bit of research would get me going, but it didn’t. Eventually, I made myself write something, and it’s not very good. At least not good enough, so I’ve signalled it up in red and will have to return and do it again. I think it was because I was persistent however, that later in the chapter I got some flow going again, but it was a chapter with quite a lot of dialogue in it, and I find that much easier to do than the text. I’ve been writing for 10 days now, and have got just over 10,000 words, and I’m happy with 1,000 words a day because if nothing changes, then I should have the first draft within three months… round April or May.
