Strong-hearted stories, dark & funny

32. WRITING THE CHILD CEPHALINA

April 2nd 2017:- Another good writing day, although I started off plunging into a scene which didn’t belong where I had put it, but I finished it, and then when back to the beginning of the chapter and put in the more important scene in which the main character works out a way to find enough money to ‘buy’ two young girls who live in Hackney. I’ve reached chapter 21, and I am still averaging 1,000 words a day, and have in total approximately 58 thousand words completed. I’m aiming for around 80 thousand and it feels about right considering what else must go into the story. I’m right on the cusp at last, bar a chapter or two of the ultimate scene which will be the last in the book. I have 4 weeks and 3 days to finish the draft.
